RESUMO

Objective To compare the dose difference of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) with different gantry angle between target volumes and surrounding normal tissues in lumbar spinal metastases therapy. Methods Ten patients with lumbar spinal metastases were enrolled in the study. Three plans with the same prescription dose of 3000 cGy/10f were designed by seven-equal beams (plan-A), five-back beams (plan-B) and seven-back beams (plan-C). All the plans were designed with the same objective function and dose limiting condition. The difference of dosimetric parameters of planning target volume (PTV), organ at risk (OAR), normal tissues, and treatment parameters in all the plans were compared with SPSS 21.0 statistical software. Results All the plans satisfied the clinical requirement. There was no significant difference in the Dmean, D2%, D98%, CI and HI of PTV between plan-A and plan-C (P >0.05), and these parameters of plan-A and plan-C were better than plan-B (P < 0.05). Compared with the other two plans, plan-B reduced the dosimetric parameters of bilateral kidney (P < 0.05), whereas plan-B increased the Dmax of spinal cord (P < 0.05). The V5 and V10 of normal tissue of plan-B were lower than the other two plans while the V15, V20 and V25 showed inverse relationship (P < 0.05). plan-B had certain advantages in shortening the monitor units and treatment time (P < 0.05).. Conclusions The seven-equal beams (plan-A) and seven-back beams (plan-C) IMRT plans can provide better target dose distribution, and reduce the Dmax of spinal cord. Five-back beams (plan-B) IMRT plan had certain advantages in protecting bilateral kidney and shortening treatment time.

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the relationship of the expression of thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) in nasal polyps tissues and the Th2 inflammatory response.@*METHOD@#Sixty patients with nasal polyps were collect ed. The immunohistochemical staining method was used to detect the expression of TSLP in nasal polyps tissues and ELISA method to the expression of IL-4, IL-5, IFN-gamma, IL-13 and analyzed the correlation between them.@*RESULT@#The expression of TSLP in nasal polyp tissues was higher than that in normal inferior turbinate mucosa (P < 0.05). The expression level of IL-4, IL-5, IFN-gamma and IL-13 in nasal polyps tissues were significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05). TSLP staining was a statistically significant positive correlation with IL-4, IL5 and IL-13 (r = 0.475, 0.594 and 0.582, respectively, P < 0.01), while inverse correlation with IFN-gamma (r = -0.614, P < 0.01).@*CONCLUSION@#The high expression of TSLP might promote T cell differentiation towards Th2, and participated in the occurrence/development of nasal polyps, aggravated the nose Th2 inflammatory response.

RESUMO

This review presents the most recent chemical and biological investigations on one of the marine invertebrates, gorgonian octocoral. It summarizes all 432 new compounds published in 2002-2009, which consists of 46 sesquiterpenoids (including 2 new natural products, NNP), 282 diterpenoids (including 4 from Pennatulacea octocoral and one artifact), 76 steroids, and 29 alkaloids or other types (2 NNP included). In this paper, according to the structure division, the new compounds are described in combination with the taxonomy of the investigated animals, and its simultaneous bioactivity results. Novel skeletons and complex structures are paid most emphasis on its features, means of structural elucidation and the proposed biogenesis pathway. The source of all new compounds and the different diterpenoid skeleton types are all listed and analyzed, as well as the commonly used Chinese names or some proposed ones for diterpenoid skeletons. Furthermore, this papers deals with all biological test toward the gorgonian new metabolites, i.e. anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial(against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, Mycobacterium tuberculosis etc), anti-malaria, and anti-fouling as well, in which anti-cancer activity and cytotoxicity were additionally, a discussion and prospect are proposed regarding chemical overview on gorgonian. This review, hopefully, can be useful in proving data and references for further chemical and biological research of China sea gorgonian, for the studies on chemical ecology, and for the discovery of new and bioactive compounds or the marine-derived leading targets.

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the possible regulation mechanism of nuclear factor-kappa B subunit p50 on Th1/Th2 cytokine in nasal polyps.@*METHOD@#The expression of IL-4, gamma-IFN and p50 were examined by the method of immunohistochemistry staining in 40 cases of nasal polyps and 20 normal subjects, and the linear correlations between activity of p50 and IL-4, gamma-IFN were evaluated.@*RESULT@#The expression of p50 mainly distribute in the cytoplasm of epithelia, inflammatory cell and the epithelia of gland. The expression of IL-4 and the activity of p50 was increased significantly in nasal polyps (all P0.05). Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated that p50 nuclear-presented closely correlation with IL-4 level, but not gamma-IFN. The correlation coefficient was 0.70 for p50 and IL-4 (P0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The activity of p50 in nasal polyps is increased significantly. The activation of p50 may play an important role in the imbalance of Th1/Th2-typed cytokines by upregulating the level of IL-4.
