ABSTRACT
Body weight and fat content are known to influence the timing of puberty but the association remained after adjustment for pre-pubertal body mass index. [...]a large retrospective study from the US finds that patients who underwent plasma exchange spent a week longer in hospital and were two to three times more likely to die than those who received immunoglobulin (Muscle Nerve doi10.1002/mus.26831). A case study in NEJM Catalyst identifies early testing (particularly of people arriving from places where the disease was prevalent), rapid mobilisation of microbiological laboratories, and a coherent and consistent national strategy as crucial interventions.
