ABSTRACT

Hypertension is the primary disease that endangers human health. A convenient and accurate blood pressure measurement method can help to prevent the hypertension. This paper proposed a continuous blood pressure measurement method based on facial video signal. Firstly, color distortion filtering and independent component analysis were used to extract the video pulse wave of the region of interest in the facial video signal, and the multi-dimensional feature extraction of the pulse wave was preformed based on the time-frequency domain and physiological principles; Secondly, an integrated feature selection method was designed to extract the universal optimal feature subset; After that, we compared the single person blood pressure measurement models established by Elman neural network based on particle swarm optimization, support vector machine (SVM) and deep belief network; Finally, we used SVM algorithm to build a general blood pressure prediction model, which was compared and evaluated with the real blood pressure value. The experimental results showed that the blood pressure measurement results based on facial video were in good agreement with the standard blood pressure values. Comparing the estimated blood pressure from the video with standard blood pressure value, the mean absolute error (MAE) of systolic blood pressure was 4.9 mm Hg with a standard deviation (STD) of 5.9 mm Hg, and the MAE of diastolic blood pressure was 4.6 mm Hg with a STD of 5.0 mm Hg, which met the AAMI standards. The non-contact blood pressure measurement method based on video stream proposed in this paper can be used for blood pressure measurement.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the antibiotic resistance spectrum and genetic characteristics of multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MDRSA) nasal isolate among primary school students, and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of masal MDRSA resistance and the selection of clincal drugs in children.@*Methods@#Antibiotic susceptibility experiments were performed on all SA isolates of 1 705 primary school students from 8 primary schools in Guangzhou selected by using multistage cluster stratified sampling method. MDRSA antibiotic susceptibility spectrum was analyzed, and the resistant, virulence and immune evasion cluster(IEC) genes detected by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).@*Results@#The prevalence of MDRSA nasal carriage was 20.76%(354/1 705), and the proportion of multidrug resistance among SA isolates was 96.20%(354/368). The predominant resistant antibiotics of MDRSA isolates were penicillin(99.72%), erythromycin(96.33%), clindamycin(90.96%) and teicoplanin(90.11%). Notably, 240(67.80%, 240/354) MDRSA isolates were resistant to more than six antimicrobial categories. And the predominant detection rates of resistant genes were BlaZ(92.66%), Tet(M)(49.72%), virulence genes Tst(25.42%) and IEC genes Sak(92.09%), Hlb(61.58%).@*Conclusion@#We found high prevalence of nasal colonization MDRSA from healthy children. Moreover, MDRSA isolates has a high resistant rate to multiple antibiotics, and the proportion of resistant to ≥6 antimicrobial categories is high.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the distribution and drug resistance situation of staphylococcus aureus (SA) and methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from the classroom environments in primary schools of Guangzhou.@*Methods@#The air and the surfaces of door handles, desks, chairs, light switches and floor were sampled in the classrooms of 8 primary schools selected through stratified clustering method in Guangzhou from May to June, 2016. SA and MRSA were isolated and identified, and drug sensitivity tests were conducted.@*Results@#A total of 760 samples were collected, the detection rate of SA and MRSA were 8.8% and 4.2%, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in the detection rate of staphylococcus aureus among different sampling sites(P<0.01).Detection of SA and MRSA on the floor, light’s witches and surface of deskes was both above 6.0%. The multiple drug resistance rate of MRSA was up to 100.0%, and the main resistance mode was Penicillin-Erythromycin-Rifampin-Tetracycline-Teicolanin.@*Conclusion@#MRSA can be detected in air, door handles, desk surface, chair surface, light switch and floor of primary schools. Relevant administration departments should pay attention to the environments health of Guangzhou primary schools.

ABSTRACT

A novel, rapid and sensitive chemiluminescence (CL) method for the determination of oxytetracycline hydrochloride (OTCH) is described in this paper. The presented method was based on the fact that OTCH could immensely enhance the CL of the reaction of cerium sulfate and tris(2,2-bipyridyl) ruthenium (II) in acidic medium. Under optimal experimental conditions, CL intensity was favorably linear for OTCH in the range 5.0 × 10-7 to 5.0 × 10-5 g/ml, with a detection limit of 1.5 × 10-7 g/ml (S/N = 3). The relative standard detection was 4.76% for 5.0 × 10-6 g/ml (n = 11). This method was successfully applied to the analysis of OTCH in milk and egg white samples. According to the results of the kinetic curves for OTCH in the Ru(bipy)3 2+ -Ce(SO4 )2 CL system, together with CL and ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectra, the possible mechanism of the CL reaction is discussed briefly.

ABSTRACT

To systematically review the efficacy and safety of Danhong injection for patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF), two researchers electronically searched PubMed, EMbase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, CBM, WanFang Data and VIP databases from the date of establishment to May 2016 for all randomized controlled trials(RCTs) and quasi-RCTs on the use of Danhong injection in patients with IPF. Manual search in relevant journals and search of relevant literature on other websites were also performed. The data extraction and quality assessment of included RCTs and quasi-RCT were conducted by two reviewers independently. Then, Meta-analysis was conducted by using RevMan 5.3 software. A total of 12 RCTs involving 844 patients were included, 423 cases in experiment group and 421 cases in control group. The results of meta-analysis indicated that the Danhong injection group was superior than the control group in clinical effectiveness(RR=1.36, 95%CI 1.25 to 1.49, P<0.000 01), increased DLCO value(MD=4.25, 95%CI 3.32 to 5.18, P<0.000 01), and increased PaO2 value(MD=14.51, 95%CI 12.35 to 16.68, P<0.000 01). The analysis results showed that Danhong injection could significantly reduce the level of TGF-β1 in serum. There were no serious or frequently happened adverse effects in the Danhong injection group, indicating high safety and good tolerance of Danhong injection in treatment of IPF. The current evidences suggested that Danhong injection in short term use(<12 weeks) could increase clinical effectiveness, improve DLCO and PaO2, and decrease the level of TGF-β1 in serum of IPF patients, with less adverse effects. However, these results should be carefully interpreted due to the low methodology quality and small sample size of trials, and this conclusion had to be further verified by high quality, large scale and double blinded RCTs.

ABSTRACT

Cancer metastasis is the most dangerous stage of tumorigenesis and evolution, the primary cause of death in cancer patients. Clinically, more than 60% of cancer patients have found metastasis at the time of examination. Modern medicine has made significant progress on the mechanisms of cancer metastasis in recent years, from the simple "anatomy and machinery" theory forward to the "seed and soil" theory, then to the "microenvironmental" theory and the "cancer stem cell" theory. The emerging "cancer stem cell" theory successfully explains phenomenon such as tumor genetic heterogeneity, anoikis resistance, tumor dormancy, providing more new targets and ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer metastasis.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo construct and identify a adenovirus vector of the expression of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and to explore the role of CTGF in the metabolism of glucose and lipid.

METHODSThe over-expressed plasmid of CTGF was cloned, and then the CTGF sequences were cloned into pAdTrack-CMW vector. The reformed E. coli BJ5183-sensitive bacteria that contain pAdEasy-1 were transformed with lined vector cut by Pme I enzyme. The recombinant adenovirus vector was cut with Pac I enzyme and obtained, then transfected 293A cells to produce virus. Through three times of amplification, the adenovirus infected the primary hepatocytes to determine the infection efficiency and CTGF expression. The mice were starved for several time periods, and then the liver RNA was extracted for real-time PCR to detect the expressions of CTGF under different nutritional conditions.

RESULTSThe adenovirus of CTGF was successfully produced with an infection efficiency of 90%. The expressions of the CTGF were different under different nutritional conditions and showed a coincidence with the expression of peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1 alpha. After the mice were starved for 24h, the expression of CTGF increased by (2.38 +/- 0.51) folds; after the mice were starved for 48 h, the expression of CTGF increased by (2.95 +/- 0.57) folds (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONCTGF is speculated to be involved in the metabolism of glucose and lipids.
