ABSTRACT

Hypertension is a risk factor for a variety of cardiovascular diseases, which is an important public health problem in the world today. MiRNAs are a class of highly conserved non-coding small RNAs. In recent years, studies have found that miRNAs are involved in the occurrence and development of hypertension through a variety of ways, causing damage to the important target organs of hypertension, such as heart, brain and kidney. This article reviews the research progress of miRNA in hypertension in recent years, in order to clarify its role in the process of hypertension and target organ damage, and provide ideas for exploring new therapeutic targets of hypertension.

ABSTRACT

The concept of enhanced recovery after surgery has been widely used in various disci-plines. Because of the need of anaesthesia and metabolism after surgery and the particularity of gynecologi-cal pelvic surgery, most surgical operations require indwelling catheter. However, indwelling catheter has many complications, such as urinary tract infection, difficult intubation, leakage, bladder function damage and difficult extubation. This article mainly discussed the progress of rehabilitation surgery and the applica-tion of early removal of ureter, and discussed the complications of indwelling catheter, in order to shorten the time of indwelling catheter after surgery, so as to reduce the symptoms of urinary tract irritation, the rate of urinary tract infection, and the nervous and anxious mood of patients, as well as accelerate the recovery of patients after surgery.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To investigate toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)-related the regulation of Ornithog-alum caudatum extract(OCE)on inflammatory responses in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)activated macro-phages.METHODS Primary peritoneal macrophage,Raw 264.7,and THP-1 were incubated in 96-well plate for 24 h and treated with OCE of the concentration of 0-400 μg/ml for 4h.The viability of cells was measured by MTT assay.Specific concentrations of OCE were added into the medium of primary peri-toneal macrophage, Raw 264.7, and THP-1, respectively, then following with lipopolysaccharides (LPS). Cells were harvested and the total cellular protein and nuclear protein were extracted, and the protein content was determined using BCA protein assay Kit.The expressions of TLR4,inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),cyclooxygenase 2(COX-2),α-inhibitor of NF-κB(IκB-α)and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB)were assayed by Western blot. The expressions of interleukin-1α(IL-1α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-18(IL-18),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)were measured by RT-PCR.RESULTS The results of MTT showed that OCE has no cytotoxicity in Raw 264.7 cells between 1.56 μg/ml and 400 μg/ml. Compared with normal group, the expressions of TLR4,iNOS,COX-2,NF-κB and IL-1α,IL-1β,IL-18, TNF-α,the level of nitric oxide(NO)were significantly increased by LPS stimulation, while OCE pretreat-ment reduced these increase induced by LPS. However, OCE pretreatment reversed the reduction of IκB-α after LPS stimulation.CONCLUSION OCE might suppress TLR4 expression and block the inflamma-tion process of NF-κB and iNOS,further decrease the expression of COX-2 and inhibit the release of inflammatory factors.

ABSTRACT

Uterine artery embolization (UAE) is the purpose of treatment-related diseases by embolizing the vascular network of uterine lesions. Because of the small damage, the recovery time of patients is short, and it is recognized by the majority of patients. However, it is still important to pay attention to the poor effect and complications of 10% of the patients. Three-dimensional reconstruction of the lesion before surgery, could calculate the optimal angle of inclination of the tube to guide uterine artery embolization, reduce the X-ray. Radiation dose, exposure time and rational distribution of embolic agents to achieve personalized guidance for UAE. Now, we elaborate the research progress of three-dimensional reconstruction in the application of uterine artery embolization in gynecological diseases.

ABSTRACT

Mitochondrion is an important organelle in cells and plays a crucial role in tumor development. Therefore, improvement of the targeting ability of anticancer drugs to mitochondria will increase the treatment efficacy for tumor and reduce the side effect on normal tissues. Here, research progresses in mitochondrial targeting have been reviewed in three aspects for tumors treatment: the potential, permeability and translocase of mitochondrial membrane. The review provides a reference for the development of mitochondria targeted therapeutic systems.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is one of the leading causes of sudden cardiac death. Recent studies have shown that ARVC, which is an inheritable genetic change, results from mutations in genes encoding desmosomal proteins. Plakophilin-2 is an important component of the desmosome. Because the full range of genetic variations related to ARVC is unknown and no related studies of the Chinese population have been reported, we aimed to investigate the genetic variation of plakophilin-2 in ARVC patients from the Southern Region of China.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Genomic DNA was isolated from peripheral blood samples of all 34 ARVC patients, who were screened through a clinical evaluation. They were used to detect variations in the sequences of the plakophilin-2 genes by polymerase chain reaction amplification in combination with direct sequencing.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>In exon-1 of the plakophilin-2 gene, a deletion mutation (c.145_148 del GACA) was found in one family pedigree. The mutation was also found in exon-2, 4, and 11 of the plakophilin-2 gene. The QT interval dispersion of the ECG was considerably longer in the mutation group than in the non-mutation group of ARVC patients, and this result was statistically significant (P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>We discovered a plakophilin-2 mutation that prolongs the QT interval dispersion in the southern Chinese ARVC population.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the thoracic aorta features in patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) with echocardiography.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>We retrospectively analyzed the echocardiographic features and clinical manifestations in 273 patients with BAV detected from 1991-04 to 2006-02.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>(1) Aortic dimensions of the anulus, the sinuses of valsalva, the sinotubular junction, the ascending aorta at the level of its largest diameter of 31 patients with functionally normal BAV were significantly increased compared that in control subjects (P < 0.01 to P < 0.001) while the dimension of the descending aorta posterior to the left atrium was similar between the two groups (P > 0.05). (2) There is no relation between the vulval positions of BAV and aortic dimensions (P > 0.05). (3) The dimensions of the annulus as well as the sinuses of valsalva were negatively related to the aortic valve gradient, and the dimension of the annulus, the sinuses of valsalva and sinotubular junction were positively related to the degree of aortic regurgitation in 273 patients with BAV (all P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Our results show there is a hemodynamic independent thoracic aortic dilation in patients with functionally normal BAV. Gradient and aortic regurgitation are related to the dimension of the annulus, the sinuses of valsalva and sinotubular junction in patients with BAV.</p>
