RESUMO

Background: Food and nutrition literacy (FNL) plays an important role in young adults' dietary habits and nutrition. This study aimed to investigate FNL status and its associated factors among young adults aged 15-44 years in Shenzhen. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 5,390 participants was conducted in June 2021. FNL was measured using the Food and Nutrition Literacy Questionnaire for Chinese Adults (FNLQ). A generalized linear model was employed to analyze the factors associated with FNL. Results: The median FNL score (total score = 100) was 68.00, which was below the adequate level of 80. FNL was divided into the two different domains of knowledge and skills, with significantly different scoring rate of 85.30 and 67.77%, respectively. The overall proportion of respondents with adequate FNL was 19.52%. The FNL score was significantly higher among the participants who were female (ß = 2.665; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.031-3.299) and with higher education levels (ß ranging from 5.632 [CI: 3.845-7.419] to 10.756 [CI: 8.973-12.538]), healthcare-related work experience (ß = 4.197; CI: 3.557-4.837) and a higher economic status (ß ranging from 0.753 [CI: 0.079-1.426] to 6.217 [CI: 5.208-7.227]). Those who were divorced or with an unknown marital status (ß = -8.438; CI: -9.701, -7.175), abnormal body mass index (thin [ß = -2.115; CI: -3.063, -1.166], overweight [ß = -1.427; CI: -2.254, -0.600]), and suffering from chronic diseases (single disease [ß = -3.483; CI: -4.485, -2.480], multimorbidity [ß = -5.119; CI: -5.912, -4.327]) had significantly lower FNL scores. Conclusion: Generally, the level of FNL among young adults in Shenzhen, China, was relatively low. Thus, nutrition education programs targeted at promoting improved FNL status call for additional emphasis, especially in subgroups with lower scores.

RESUMO

This paper discusses the value and significance of medical-industrial integration in the teaching reform of "food hygiene" in Nutrition and Food Hygiene. Meanwhile, the study focuses on the educational concept of medical-industrial integration practice in our university, referring to integrating food science into the teaching innovation plan of "food hygiene", and using the understanding and application from food science discipline on food hygiene even the entire industry chain, taking the "strong" of "food science" to supplement the "short" of "nutrition and food hygiene", which fulfills the improvement of the curriculum system, optimization of allocation of "double-qualified" teachers, and modification of teaching methods. The combination of the traditional teaching methods and modern educational technologies such as virtual reality can lead to the training goal of matching theory with application and cultivating compound high-quality talents with the post competencies in this field in the new era.

RESUMO

Osteoarthritis (OA) has been scarcely researched among patients with diabetes mellitus. This study aims to confirm the preventive and therapeutic effects of undenatured type II collagen (UC II) on OA in aging db/db mice and in patients with T2DM. Firstly, aging db/db mice were randomly assigned to three groups: the UC II intervention (UC II) group, old model (OM) group and positive control group. Meanwhile db/m mice and young db/db mice were used as the normal control and young control groups, respectively. Secondly, fifty-five T2DM patients diagnosed with knee OA were randomly assigned to two groups: UC-II and placebo control groups. After a three-month intervention in both mice and T2DM patients, the subjects' gait and physical activities were assessed and the serum biomarkers including inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress factors and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) were measured. Compared with the OM group mice, those in the UC II group showed a significantly greater superiority in terms of motor functions including the movement trajectories area (163.25 ± 20.3 vs. 78.52 ± 20.14 cm2), the tremor index (0.42 vs. 1.23), standing time (left hind: 0.089 ± 0.03 vs. 0.136 ± 0.04 s), swing (right front: 0.12 ± 0.02 vs. 0.216 ± 0.02 s), stride length (right hind: 7.2 ± 0.9 vs. 5.7 ± 1.1 cm), step cycle (right hind: 0.252 ± 0.05 vs. 0.478 ± 0.11 s) and cadence (14.12 ± 2.7 vs. 7.35 ± 4.4 steps per s). In addition, the levels of IL-4, IL-10, CTX- II and TGF-ß in the UC II group were 1.74, 2.23, 1.67 and 1.84 times higher than those in the OM group, respectively, while the levels of MMP-3 and MMP-13 in the UC II group were half those in the OM group. Correspondingly, UC II intervention significantly decreased the scores of pain, stiffness and physical function (p < 0.05), whereas the 6 MWT and total MET distances in the UC II group increased remarkably (p < 0.05). After a three-month period of intervention, the varus angle significantly decreased from 4.6 ± 2.0° to 3.0 ± 1.4° and the knee flexion range obviously increased from 57.9 ± 14.0° to 66.9 ± 10.4°. Importantly, the declining trend in the levels of hs-CRP and MDA and the incremental trend in the SOD level were consistent in the db/db mice and OA patients following UC II administration.

RESUMO

This paper reviews the currently research on competency of practitioners in the field of nutrition and food hygiene at home and abroad. Through literature review, it's found that the there are few researches on competency in China at present. Furthermore, compared with foreign countries, there are several issues in China, such as the methods and index system setting. However, due to different national conditions, there are significant differences in the demand for nutrition and food hygiene practitioners, related disciplines and characteristics between China and abroad. Therefore, when drawing lessons from foreign models, we should appropriately make adjustments according to China's national conditions. This review will provide references for further research on establishing a set of scientific and standardized competency evaluation indexes for practitioners in the field of nutrition and food hygiene with Chinese characteristics.

RESUMO

Objective To compare the effect of seven commonly used nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on proliferation, apoptosis, and neoplasmagenesis of gastric cancer cells in vivo. Methods Gastric cancer cell lines were treated with NSAIDs (aspirin 0-400 ?mol/L, indomethacin 0-25 ?mol/L, and ibuprofen, naproxen, sulindac, nimesulide, celecoxib 0-200 ?mol/L, respectively). Proliferation of the cells was detected by using MTT assay. Apoptosis of cells was measured by using fluorescence activated cell sorter (FACS). Nude mice bearing gastric cancer xenografts were administrated with NSAIDs (indomethacin 3 mg/kg, sulindac 8 mg/kg, nimesulide 6 mg/kg, celecoxib 15 mg/kg) for 30 days, and then the weight of implanted tumors was measured. Results There was a dose dependent inhibition of cell proliferation by majority of NSAIDs used, celecoxib the most, except for ibuprofen and naproxen. In nude mice, NSAIDs also showed a suppressive effect on tumor growth with inhibitory rate of celecoxib as (93.8?0.97)%, nimesulide (93.1?1.78)%, indomethacin (89.9?5.61)% and sulindac (89.3 ? 2.07)%. Once incubated with celecoxib and indomethacin, the gastric cancer cells went to apoptosis with an increase in percentage of apoptotic cells up to 30.4% and 23.9%, respectively. Conclusions Many NSAIDs, celecoxib in particular, appeared to be suppressive to gastric cancer cells with exception for ibuprofen and naproxen. Induction of apoptosis might be one of the mechanisms that NSAIDs inhibit gastric cancer.

RESUMO

The aims of this study were to compare the inhibitory effect of nimesulide and indomethacin on gastric cancer cells, to investigate the effect of nimesulide on SGC7901 and 7901-AS, and to evaluate its probable mechanism. After incubated with nimesulide (0~200?mol/L) or indomethacin (0~25?mol/L), the proliferation of gastric cancer cells was measured by MTT assay. The cell cycle of SGC7901, 7901-P, 7901-AS was respectively observed after being incubated with nimesulide and vehicle control, by using fluorescence activated cell sorter (FACS). Ultramicrostructure of gastric cancer cells (SGC7901,7901-AS,SGC7901+nimesulide) was observed by electronmicroscopy. The results showed that by MTT assay nimesulide, as indomethacin, had dose-dependent inhibitory effects on proliferation of gastric cancer cells. Compared to the inhibitory effect of nimesulide on SGC7901, it was less on 7901-AS (P
