RESUMO

COVID-19 has been distinguished as a zoonotic coronavirus, like SARS coronavirus and MERS coronavirus. Tehran metropolis, as the capital of Iran, has a high density of residents that experienced a high incidence and mortality rates which daily increase the number of death and cases. In this study, the IDW (Inverse Distance Weight), Hotspots, and GWR (Geography Weighted Regression) Model are used as methods for analyzing big data COVID-19 in Tehran. The results showed that the majority of patients and deaths were men, but the death rate was higher in women than in men; also was observed a direct relationship between the area of the houses, and the infected rate, to COVID-19. Also, the results showed a disproportionate distribution of patients in Tehran, although in the eastern regions the number of infected people is higher than in other districts; the eastern areas have a high population density as well as residential land use, and there is a high relationship between population density in residential districts and administrative-commercial and the number of COVID-19 cases in all regions. The outputs of local R2 were interesting among patients and underlying disorders; the local R2 between hypertension and neurological diseases was 0.91 and 0.79, respectively, which was higher than other disorders. The highest rates of local R2 for diabetes and heart disease were 0.67 and 0.55, respectively. From this study, it can be concluded the restrictions must be considered especially, in areas densely populated for all people.

RESUMO

The native tissues are complex structures consisting of different cell types, extracellular matrix materials, and biomolecules. Traditional tissue engineering strategies have not been able to fully reproduce biomimetic and heterogeneous tissue constructs because of the lack of appropriate biomaterials and technologies. However, recently developed three-dimensional bioprinting techniques can be leveraged to produce biomimetic and complex tissue structures. To achieve this, multicomponent bioinks composed of multiple biomaterials (natural, synthetic, or hybrid natural-synthetic biomaterials), different types of cells, and soluble factors have been developed. In addition, advanced bioprinting technologies have enabled us to print multimaterial bioinks with spatial and microscale resolution in a rapid and continuous manner, aiming to reproduce the complex architecture of the native tissues. This review highlights important advances in heterogeneous bioinks and bioprinting technologies to fabricate biomimetic tissue constructs. Opportunities and challenges to further accelerate this research area are also described.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a polygenic inflammatory disorder of the upper respiratory airway with an increasing prevalence worldwide. Interleukin-10 (IL-10) and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), as two cytokines with pleiotropic effects on both innate and adaptive immunity, play important roles in allergic responses. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the associations of five polymorphisms of IL-10 and TGF-β genes with AR. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ninety-eight patients with AR along with 140 healthy volunteers with no history of AR and with the same ethnicity of the patients were recruited in this study. Genotyping was done for three polymorphisms in promoter region of IL-10 gene (rs1800896, rs1800871, rs1800872), and two polymorphisms in the exonic region of TGF-β1 gene (rs1982037, rs1800471) using PCR sequence-specific-primers method. RESULTS: A allele and AA genotype in rs1800896 of IL-10 and TT genotype in rs1982037 in TGF-β were significantly less frequent in the patients than in controls. While the C allele and the CG genotype in rs1800471 in TGF-β1 were associated with a higher susceptibility to AR. C/C and T/C haplotypes (rs1982037, rs1800471) in TGF-β1 gene and A/C/A, A/T/C and G/C/A haplotypes (rs1800896, rs1800871, rs1800872) in IL-10 gene were found with higher frequencies in patients than controls. Patients with CC genotype in rs1800871 in Il-10 had significantly lower levels of IgE. CONCLUSION: We found that certain genetic variants in IL-10 and TGF-β polymorphisms were associated with susceptibility to AR as well as some clinical parameters in the patients with AR

RESUMO

Background: Allergic rhinitis is a complex polygenic disorder of the upper respiratory tract. Given that proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin (IL) 1 seem to play a role in the development of allergic rhinitis, we evaluated the associations between various single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the TNF and IL1 genes in a case-control study. Methods: The study population comprised 98 patients with allergic rhinitis. Genotyping was performed using polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primers for 2 TNFA promoter variants (rs1800629 and rs361525), 1 variant in the promoter region of IL1A (rs1800587), 2 SNPs in the IL1B gene (rs16944 and rs1143634), 1 variant in the IL1 receptor (rs2234650), and 1 in IL1RA (rs315952). Results: Patients who were homozygous for the T allele of rs16944 in IL1B had an 8.1-fold greater risk of allergic rhinitis than those with the C allele. In TNFA, a significant relationship was also detected between rs1800629 and rs361525 and allergic rhinitis. Except for rs1800587 in IL1A and rs315952 in IL1RA, significant differences were found between the patient and control groups for all other SNPs. Conclusions: We found that allelic variants in the TNFA and IL1 genes were not only associated with the risk of developing allergic rhinitis, but also affected disease course and severity (AU)

Semispinalis capitis muscle (SECM) is a massive and long cervico-thoracic muscle which functions as a main head and neck extensor muscle. The aim of this study was to detect the effect of head and neck positions on the strength of neck extensor muscles and size of SECM in healthy subjects. Thirty healthy women students voluntarily participated in this study. An ultrasonography apparatus (Hitachi EUB 525) and a system of tension-meter were used to scan the right SECM at the level of third cervical spine and to measure the strength of neck extensor muscles at three head and neck positions. Neck extensor muscles were stronger in neutral than flexion or than extension positions while the size of SECM was larger in extension than neutral or than flexion position. The force generation capacity of the main neck extensor muscle was lower at two head and neck flexion and extension positions than neutral position.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study is aimed at determining the efficacy of Mentha spicata (M. spicata) and Mentha × piperita (M. × piperita) in preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). METHODS: This was a randomised, double-blind clinical trial study. Prior to the study, patients were randomly assigned into four groups to receive M. spicata or M. × piperita. Statistical analysis included the χ(2) test, relative risk, and Student's t-test. Fifty courses were analysed for each group that met our eligibility criteria. The treatment and placebo groups applied essential oils of M. spicata, M. × piperita, or a placebo, while the control group continued with their previous antiemetic regimen. Patients or guardians recorded the number of emetic events, the intensity of nausea over 20 h of chemotherapy, as well as any possible adverse effects that occurred during this time. RESULTS: There was a significant reduction in the intensity and number of emetic events in the first 24 h with M. spicata and M. × piperita in both treatment groups (p < 0.05) when compared with the control and no adverse effects were reported. The cost of treatment was also reduced when essential oils were used. CONCLUSION: M. spicata or M. × piperita essential oils are safe and effective for antiemetic treatment in patients, as well as being cost effective.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to compare the effect of a 40:2, 15:2 versus 30:2 Compression: Ventilation (C:V) ratio on rate of Chest Compression (CC), rescuer fatigue and satisfaction. We measured the BP and pulse. Fifty three persons performed BLS and CPR using C:V of 15:2, 30:2 and 40:2 on an adult resuscitation lardal manikin for 2 min. Two researchers measured the above mentioned variables. Data were analyzed by ANOVA, student's t-test or Mann-Whitney U test between groups. The value of p < 0.05 was considered as significant. The results revealed fatigue after 2 min and satisfaction from the performed technique in the groups differed (p< 0.05). Number of breathing in two minutes was 8.8 +/- 4.7(1-24). Total cardiac massage in 2 min. in the study groups was 131.7 +/- 40.6 (20-265), of this number in 130.6 +/- 40.5 was done correctly. The number of compression per 2 min increased with C:V ratio of 40:2 than to other C:V ratio. Most of participants (71.7%) prefer using 30:2 ratios to achieve the primary goal of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The PR and systolic, diastolic BP of rescuers before and 2 min after resuscitation had insignificant difference (p < 0.001) and SBP differed between groups (p < 0.04). Although the rescuers prefer to perform the C:V ratio 30:2, but number of CC is less than standard recommended by AHA. Alternative C:V ratio of 40:2 methods, is equal to the AHA recommended 80 compressions/minute and also highest number of CC is done in 2 min, while, in the other methods is less than the recommended number.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To examine weather exposure to rubella vaccine during 1-4 wk periconceptional period can cause congenital rubella syndrome (CRS). METHODS: This prospective study was performed in 60 pregnant women who received rubella vaccine inadvertently 1-4 wk pre or post conception. Time of conception was determined by last menstrual period (LMP) and first trimester sonography. In addition to gathering mother's obstetric and demographic information, all neonates were evaluated for CRS signs by systemic physical examination and anti rubella IgG and IgM antibody titers in cord blood samples. RESULTS: A total of 60 pregnant women with the median gestational age of 38 weeks were studied. The mean maternal age was 22 years and 58.3% of pregnancies were unintended. In 90% of mothers there were no post vaccination side effects (fever, lymphadenopathy, arthritis, arthralgia). None of the mothers had a history of drug abuse, smoking or teratogenic exposures. Mean neonatal weight was 3100grs and 6.7% of them were premature. No signs of CRS were found in the neonates based on systemic physical exam at birth and one month later. Mean value of cord blood anti rubella IgG titere was 148/28+/-67/26 lu/ml. cord blood anti rubella IgM was negative in all of the neonates. CONCLUSION: In this study inadvertent rubella vaccination 1-4 wk before and after conception did not cause CRS in neonates and according to all reasearches pregnancy termination is not indicated in these cases.
