ABSTRACT

Objective@#To develop a method that can continuously monitor duration of students outdoor activities for a long time, so as to provide data support for the relationship between outdoor activity duration and students health.@*Methods@#From April 28 to July 6, 2022, 1 168 students from a primary school in Shenzhen were selected. Fixed cameras were placed on the top of school classrooms, corridors and critical paths were used to identify student data and duration in the picture. And AI, cloud computing and other methods were used to measure students-non-classroom time instead of outdoor activity time in school.@*Results@#The average length of time spend on outdoor activities in school of the 24 pilot classes were 67.6-113.0 min, and showed a downward trend by grade ( F =42.74, P <0.05). The duration of outdoor activities among students was negatively correlated with the detection rate of myopia and overweight( r =-0.74, -0.45, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#The data on outdoor activity time calculated by AI image recognition is basically in line with the reality. Monitoring students outdoor activity time at school through AI image recognition is feasible and popularized.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze radiological characteristics of Muller-Weiss disease, evaluate the clinical value of the imaging examination in diagnosis of Muller-Weiss disease.@*METHODS@#The imaging data of 26 patients with Muller-Weiss disease were collected from September 2015 to August 2020, including 7 males and 19 females, aged 43 to 68 years old with an average of (52.7±4.6) years old. In the X-ray examination observed the shape and position of the navicular bone. The talar-first metatarsal angle(TFM) was measured on the weight-bearing anteroposterior radiograph. The arch angle and angle between mid-axis of talus and mid-axis of the first metatarsal(Meary angle) were measured on the weight-bearing lateral radiographs. The morphology, density, adjacent joint space and position of the navicular bone were evaluated by computed tomography(CT), and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) was used to observe the shape, signal, cartilage and surrounding soft tissue changes of the navicular bone.@*RESULTS@#Among 26 patients, 21 cases were unilateral and 5 cases were bilateral;X-ray examination showed that the lateral part of navicular bone of foot was compressed and flattened, showing"comma like"or"drop like", navicular moved to the medial side, partial fragmentation of bone, peripheral articular hyperplasia, uneven density and narrowing of relationship gap. According to Meary angle and deformity degree of the affected foot on the lateral X-ray of the load-bearing foot, Maceira staging was performed. There were 0 cases in stageⅠ, 2 cases in stage Ⅱ, 11 cases in stage Ⅲ, 9 cases in stage Ⅳand 4 cases in stage Ⅴ. CT examination showed bone fragmentation, medial displacement of navicular bone and formation of the talocalcaneal joint. MRI examination showed the irregular shape and uneven signal of navicular bone, narrowing of joint space, talocalcaneal joint surface hyperplasia and cartilage destruction, tarsal joint effusion and swelling of surrounding soft tissue.@*CONCLUSION@#Muller-Weiss disease has specific imaging manifestation, and an accurate diagnosis can be made based on the patient's age, gender, and clinincal history. Preoperative imaging examination can stage the disease, help clinicians to formulate better surgical plans, and postoperative imaging examination can better evaluate the surgical effect.

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy and quality of life between uncut Roux-en-Y and Billroth II with Braun anastomosis in laparoscopic distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer patients. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed. Inclusion criteria: (1) 18 to 75 years old; (2) gastric cancer proved by preoperative gastroscopy, CT and pathological results and tumor was suitable for D2 radical distal gastrectomy; (3) postoperative pathological diagnosis stage was T1-4aN0-3M0 (according to the AJCC-7th TNM tumor stage), and the margin was negative; (4) Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) physical status score <2 points, and American Association of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade 1 to 3; (5) no mental illness; (6) able to answer questionnaires independently; (7) patients agreed to undergo laparoscopic distal gastrectomy and signed an informed consent. Exclusion criteria: (1) patients with severe chronic diseases and American Association of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade >3; (2) patients with other malignant tumors; (3) patients suffered from serious mental diseases; (4) patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy or immunotherapy. According to the above criteria, clinical data of 200 patients who underwent laparoscopic distal gastrectomy at the Department of General Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University from January 2016 to December 2019 were collected. Of the 200 patients, 108 underwent uncut Roux-en-Y anastomosis and 92 underwent Billroth II with Braun anastomosis. The general data, intraoperative and postoperative conditions, complications, and endoscopic evaluation 1 year after the surgery were compared. Besides, the quality of life of two groups was also compared using the Chinese version of the European Organization For Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) quality of life questionnaire-Core 30 (QLQ-C30) and quality of life questionnaire-stomach 22 (QLQ-STO22). Results: There were no significant differences in baseline data between the two groups (all P>0.05). All the 200 patients successfully underwent laparoscopic distal gastrectomy without intraoperative complications, conversion to open surgery or perioperative death. There were no significant differences between two groups in operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative complications, time to flatus, time to removal of gastric tube, time to liquid diet, time to removal of drainage tube or length of postoperative hospital stay (all P>0.05). Endoscopic evaluation was conducted 1 year after surgery. Compared to Billroth II with Braun group, the uncut Roux-en-Y group had a significantly lower incidences of gastric stasis [19.8% (17/86) vs. 37.0% (27/73), χ(2)=11.199, P=0.024], gastritis [11.6% (10/86) vs. 34.2% (25/73), χ(2)=20.892, P<0.001] and bile reflux [1.2% (1/86) vs. 28.8% (21/73), χ(2)=25.237, P<0.001], and the differences were statistically significant. The EORTC questionnaire was performed 1 year after surgery, there were no significant differences in the scores of QLQ-C30 scale between the two groups (all P>0.05), while the scores of QLQ-STO22 showed that, compared to the Billroth II with Braun group, the uncut Roux-en-Y group had a lower pain score (median: 8.3 vs. 16.7, Z=-2.342, P=0.019) and reflux score (median: 0 vs 5.6, Z=-2.284, P=0.022), and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05), indicating milder symptoms. Conclusion: The uncut Roux-en-Y anastomosis is safe and reliable in laparoscopic distal gastrectomy, which can reduce the incidences of gastric stasis, gastritis and bile reflux, and improve the quality of life of patients after surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand the changes of children s height, weight, blood pressure and gender differences, to explore the relationship between overweight, obesity and childhood hypertension, and to provide a scientific basis for childhood hypertension prevention.@*Methods@#Physical examination data during 2013 to 2018 of ten primary school students in Shenzhen were collected. Growth rate of height, weight and blood pressure by age and gender were calculated. The generalized estimating equation was used to analyze the association between overweight, obesity and hypertension.@*Results@#Weight, body mass index (BMI) and systolic pressure of boys and girls increased with age ( t/Z =3.89-31.52, P <0.05). The height growth rate of girls was higher than that of boys at the age of 8-11, and reaches the peak of height growth at the age of 10, while boys were two years later than girls(boys:7.68 cm, gilrs:7.42 cm). Weight and blood pressure growth rates were similar. At the same time, the growth rate of height and blood pressure had a synchronous trend, and the peak of the growth rate of blood pressure was also at the peak stage of height growth. The OR value of obesity on childhood hypertension was 1.62(1.48-1.81), and the OR value of overweight on childhood hypertension was 2.01(1.75-2.30), both P <0.01.@*Conclusion@#There are gender differences in children s height, weight, and blood pressure, and the growth rate of height and blood pressure shows a synchronous trend. Overweight and obesity in children can increase the risk of high blood pressure and hypertension.

ABSTRACT

In order to provide rationale for selection of good germplasm in Rubus chingii, main effective medicinal ingredients of green fruit such as gallic acid, ellagic acid, kaempferol-3-rutinoside, astragalin and tiliroside were measured using UPLC for the samples collected from Chun'an county of Zhejiang province, and such parameters as soluble solid contents of ripe fruit of some samples were also measured to study variation among individuals and correlation. It has been found that there were differences among individuals in the contents of gallic acid, ellagic acid, kaempferol-3-rutinoside, astragalin and tiliroside, which ranged from 0.010 2%-0.027 4%, 0.089 5%-0.291 1%, 0.010 5%-0.114 8%, 0.005 8%-0.041 2% and 0.010 9%-0.086 3%, respectively, with a CV of 18.60%, 27.02%, 44.23%, 44.17% and 47.29%, respectively. Gallic acid was positively correlated with ellagic acid, but negatively with kaempferol-3-rutinoside and astragalin significantly. Significantly positive correlation existed between kaempferol-3-rutinoside, astragalin and linden glycoside as well as between ellagic acid and fruit shape index of ripe fruit and between linden glycoside and the content of soluble solids. 51.35% of the individuals had a content of soluble solids more than 15%. Therefore, abundant variations have been found among individuals in effective medicinal ingredients in R. chingii, which shows great potential for selection, but only do 7.61% of the individuals meet the requirement of Chinese pharmacopoeia in terms of the contents of effective medicinal ingredients. Therefore, selection could be first performed in terms of fruit shape index of ripe red fruit, followed by the contents of ellagic acid and kaempferol-3-rutinoside measured. The individuals, in which the contents of effective medicinal ingredients don't meet the requirement of Chinese pharmacopoeia, could be considered for the selection in terms of edible fresh fruit.

ABSTRACT

Bioorthogonal fluorogenic probes are becoming an ideal tool for live-cell fluorescence imaging. With the tetrazine bioorthogonal fluorogenic probe that displays fluorescence enhancement, the tetrazine plays the dual-role of a bioorthogonal reaction unit and the fluorescence quenching unit. The "off" and "on" states of the fluorescence probe are mainly controlled through inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) bioorthogonal reaction. We designed a series of turn-on tetrazine fluorescent probes with Donor-π-Acceptor (D-π-A) structure to achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio and specificity of fluorescence imaging. This series of probes reacted with the dienophile bicyclononyne, and then generated pyridazine structure in-situ that acted as an electron acceptor, resulting in a new D-π-A effect of fluorescent dyes, turning on the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) effect. By adjusting the electron-donating groups and the degree of conjugation, tunable fluorescence spectra between 400-647 nm with fluorescence turn-on enhanced up to 500-fold have been achieved. This research lays the foundation for the further optimization of tetrazine bioorthogonal fluorescent probes and their applications in molecular imaging and biomedical fields.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the effect of peritoneum reconstruction on postoperative complications after laparoscopic low anterior resection (LAR) for rectal cancer. Methods: Retrospective cohort study and propensity score matching were conducted. Case inclusion criteria: (1) pathologically confirmed rectal adenocarcinoma; (2) 18 to 80 years; (3) patients with middle to low rectal cancer undergoing laparoscopic LAR; (4) patients staging cT1-4aN0-2M0 or ycT1-4aN0-2M0 after neoadjuvant therapy; (5) the distance of 4-10 cm from tumor low margin to anal verge. Exclusion criteria: (1) abdominal surgery history (except appendicitis, cholecystitis, ectopic pregnancy); (2) anastomosis above the peritoneal reflection; (3) tumor distant metastasis or clinical staging of T4b during surgery; (4) conversion to open surgery; (5) severe incapacitating disease (American Society of Anesthesiologists classification IV or V, ASA). A total of 666 patients with middle to low rectal cancer undergoing laparoscopic LAR in The First Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University from January 2017 to June 2020 were enrolled. There were 473 males and 193 females with the median age of 59 (18-80) years. Laparoscopic LAR with peritoneum reconstruction was performed in 188 cases (PR group), and laparoscopic LAR without peritoneum reconstruction was performed in 478 cases (NPR group). After 1:1 propensity score matching according to 1:1 based on age, gender, body mass index, TNM staging, ASA classification, intraoperative blood loss, distance from tumor low margin to anal edge, 153 cases were included in each group. Postoperative complications were classified according to Clavien-Dindo classification. Anastomotic leakage was defined and graded according to the International Study Group of Rectal Cancer (ISGRC) criteria. Results: After propensity score matching, there were no significant differences in baseline demographic characteristics between the 2 groups (all P>0.05), indicating that these two groups were comparable. (1) Operative conditions: All the patients in both groups completed operation successfully. Compared with the NPR group, the PR group had longer operation time [(181.3±60.3) minutes vs. (168.9±51.5) minutes, t=2.185, P=0.029], shorter postoperative median hospital stay [8 (7, 10) days vs. 9 (7, 11) days, Z=-2.282, P=0.022], and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). (2) Postoperative complications: The overall morbidity of postoperative complication in PR group and NPR group was 20.3% (31/153) and 24.2% (37/153) respectively, and the incidence of anastomotic leakage was 9.8% (15/153) and 11.1%(17/153) respectively, whose differences were not statistically significant (both P>0.05). Compared with NPR group, PR group had lower morbidity of grade III to IV complications [3.9% (6/153) vs. 11.1% (17/153), χ(2)=5.688, P=0.017] and lower secondary operation rate [1.3% (2/153) vs. 5.9% (9/153), χ(2)=4.621, P=0.032], the differences were statistically significant (both P<0.05). Though PR group had lower incidence of grade C anastomoic leakage [1.3% (2/153) vs. 3.9% (6/153), χ(2)=2.054, P=0.152], but the differences were not statistically significant. (3) Postoperative inflammation: The difference of the procalcitonin level of both PR and NPR groups at postoperative 1-d, 3-d, and 5-d was statistically significant (F=5.222, P=0.010) in time-dependent manner, while the difference was not significant in the interaction effect (P>0.05). No statistically significant differences in the C-reactive protein level between two groups at postoperative 1-d, 3-d, and 5-d were found (all P>0.05). Conclusion: Peritoneum reconstruction in laparoscopic LAR can decrease the morbidity of postoperative complication of grade III to IV and the reoperation rate, and plays an important role in controlling the inflammatory reaction, which has great clinical value.

ABSTRACT

AP2/ERF transcription factor is a kind of transcription factors widely existing in plants, and contains at least a conserved AP2/ERF domain composed of about 60-70 amino acids. AP2/ERF transcription factors are widely involved in a variety of physiological processes in plants, including plant development, fruit ripening, flower development and other plant development processes, as well as such stress response processes as damage, pathogen defense, high-salt condition and drought. In recent years, secondary metabolic engineering that takes transcription factors as genetic manipulation targets has developed rapidly in improving the content of active ingredients and the quality of medicinal plants. This paper reviews the recent progress in the regulation of secondary metabolites biosynthesis with AP2/ERF transcription factors, and provides theoretical basis for the exploration of efficient regulatory targets, the regulation of secondary metabolites in medicinal plants, the targeted improvement of the content of active ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine, and the sustainable supply of high-quality traditional Chinese medicines.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the associated factors of myopia among primary and secondary school students in Shenzhen, and to provide reference for the prevention and control of myopia.@*Methods@#By stratified cluster sampling, 3 073 students of 14 schools including primary, junior, regular and vocational senior schools from two districts in Shenzhen were selected and investigated.@*Results@#For primary school students, the time of using computer for 2-<3 hours per day (OR=2.23,95%CI=1.19-4.20) , and no physical education class(2 sections per week OR=0.34, 95%CI=0.13-0.91; 4 sections per week OR=0.23, 95%CI=0.08-0.62; 5 sections or more per week OR=0.33, 95%CI=0.11-0.97) were positively associated with myopia. Teachers finishing class on time at break (occasionally delaying OR=1.99, 95%CI=1.51-2.63; frequently delaying OR=2.07, 95%CI=1.29-3.30), taking 0.5-1 hour break when using eyes at close range (1-<2 hours OR=1.33,95%CI=1.03-1.70; ≥3 hours OR=1.87, 95%CI=1.17-3.00), no parents with myopia(one parent with myopia OR=1.69, 95%CI=1.32-2.17; two parents with myopia OR=2.13, 95%CI=1.50-3.02) were negatively associated with myopia. For junior high school students, without parents with myopia (one parent with myopia OR=3.27, 95%CI=2.17-4.94; two parents with myopia OR=5.38, 95%CI=2.78-10.42) was the protective factor of myopia. For senior high school students, male (female OR=1.52, 95%CI=1.07-2.14), doing eye exercises twice a day in school (OR=0.41, 95%CI=0.23-0.75), and accumulating outdoor activities for ≥2 hours a day (OR=0.70, 95%CI=0.49-1.00) were negatively associated with myopia.@*Conclusion@#There are different risk factors for myopia among different students in Shenzhen. Students with high risk factors are the key objects of prevention and control.

ABSTRACT

Internal carotid artery occlusion (ICAO) can be caused by a variety of causes, which presents diverse clinical manifestations in patients ranging from asymptomatic to acute severe stroke syndromes. This extreme variability and the risks of recurrent stroke depend on the various vascular risk factors, including the characteristics of occlusion, hemodynamic alterations, and collateral circulation. A variety of imaging techniques is throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment in patients with ICAO, which plays a vital role. This article aims to review various imaging methods for the evaluation of internal carotid artery occlusion and collateral circulation.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the correlation between blood pressure and urinary phthalandione, MMP, MEP, MnBP, MiBP, PAEs.@*Methods@#Three schools were selected from Shenzhen, China for the present study. A total of 765 firstgrade students of Han ethnicity were recruited voluntarily from the selected schools during September 2016 to June 2017. They were divided into normal blood pressure (BP) group (lower than P90 group) and high BP group (BP≥P90). Linear and Logistic regression models were used to analyze the relationships between blood pressure and urine phthalate metabolite levels.@*Results@#Urinary MMP and MnBP in students of high BP group were significantly higher than that of students in normal BP group(t=13.12, 3.97, P<0.05). Linear regression models showed that Z score increased when MMP and MnBP levels increased(P<0.05). Logistic regression model suggested that the risk of high BP increased with the increment of MMP level adjusting creatinine, sex, age and BMI(OR=1.47, P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the differences after adjusting many factors including family income and education level of parents(P>0.05).@*Conclusion@#Urinary phthalate metabolite levels are positively associated with blood pressure in first-grade children.

ABSTRACT

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common degenerative disease affecting articular cartilage. Some studies indicate that tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) gene rs1800629 polymorphism was associated with OA risk among Caucasian populations. To examine the role of this candidate gene in Asian populations, we conducted a hospital-based case-control study involving 257 knee OA patients and 305 controls in a Chinese population. Genotyping was performed using a custom-by-design 48-Plex single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) Scan™ kit. Our study indicated that the AA genotype of TNF-α rs1800629 polymorphism was associated with increased risk of OA. Subsequently, we conducted a meta-analysis and found that rs1800629 polymorphism increased the risk of OA in the recessive and homozygous models. Stratification analysis of ethnicity also obtained a significant association among Asian populations. In conclusion, TNF-α rs1800629 polymorphism confers susceptibility to OA, especially among Asians. Larger studies with more diverse ethnic populations are needed to confirm these results.

ABSTRACT

The objectiue was to explore how to improve stem cell derivation from human great saphenous vein. After the saphenous vein was cut into small pieces, the cells of the vessel wall were obtained by tissue adherent method and digestion with type Ⅱ collagenase. The morphological changes of blood vessel wall were observed under inverted microscope. The survival of vascular wall cells was assessed by trypan blue staining. Stem cells doubly positive for CD34 and CD117 were sorted out by immunofluorescent staining and flow cytometry. The cells obtained by tissue adherence method exhibited signs of fibrotic changes and aging at the third passage (P3), while the cells extracted by enzymatic digestion still showed colony-like growth. Survival rates of these two groups of cells were (91.7±1.2)% and (97.2±0.7)%, (P=0.005). The results of flow cytometry showed that the positive rates of CD34 and CD117 double positive cells in these two groups were (0.16± 0.05)% and (0.44±0.07)%, respectively, with statistical significance (P=0.005). Immunofluorescent staining showed that the positive rates of double positive stem cells in the two groups were (89.41±2.06)% and (94.03±1.83)%, P<0.05 one week after the sorted stem cells were cultured. The positive rates of CD31, VEGF2 and SMA in the stem cells determined by flow cytometry were (0.12±0.01)%, (0.19±0.02)% and (0.45±0.01)%, respectively, which were not statistically different from those of the control groups. This could rule out substantial inclusion of mature endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells. Tube forming experiment confirmed that these vascular stem cells had developmental plasticity. More viable and morphologically healthy vascular stem cells can be derived by enzymatic digestion. These cells can be widely used in clinical and basic research.
