ABSTRACT

@#Objective    To explore the training mode for improving the innovative scientific research ability of postgraduates of thoracic surgery. Methods    Twenty-two postgraduate students enrolled in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Ruijin Hospital from September 2016 to June 2019 were targeted for training, and the teachers were 13 doctors in our department. Training methods included grant-based learning, formative learning and translational medical learning. In addition to the postgraduate education provided by the medical school, the training content also included more than 50 lectures about thoracic surgery, including surgical video explanation, perioperative management of thoracic surgery, interpretation of clinical guidelines, and intensive reading of the literature; it also included half-year clinical internship, 100 surgical operations and management of 5 medical beds in ward. Results    Clinical ability of the postgraduates were improved. Six postgraduate students enrolled in 2016 graduated successfully. They published 15 SCI papers and won more than 20 awards. Conclusion    Cultivating postgraduates of thoracic surgery oriented by innovative scientific research ability is conducive to the comprehensive understanding of thoracic diseases and the ability of innovative translation research.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the differences of curricula setting of medical students in China and the United States,and the enlightenment for medical education in China.Methods The curriculum of the 8-year students in Grade 2010 of Peking University was compared with the schedule of medical students in the same grade at the Pittsburgh University,specifically for the number of courses,the distribution of courses,the training of innovative abilities,and the doctor-patient communication courses.All the data were analyzed by SPSS 20.0,and t test and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis.Results The total number of courses in the two medical schools was similar.The number of study weeks per year for Peking University was (41.6 ± 8.7) weeks while that of Pittsburgh University was (39.6 ± 8.5)weeks,without statistically significant difference (t =1.414,P=0.200).Courses of both universities were distributed from comprehensive courses to medical courses and from basic courses to clinical courses,and the professional courses were similar.Innovative ability training and doctor-patient communication education were reflected in the curriculum of both universities,but the training courses of the University of Pittsburgh began earlier and the form was more flexible.Among them,there was a total of 47 learning hours of the doctor-patient communication lecture in Peking University while the number of Pittsburgh University was 140 learning hours,including lectures and communication with standard patients and real patients.The difference was statistically significant (~=67.45,P=0.000).Conclusion After more than 20 years of medical education reform,the curricula of medical students in China have basically reached the level of developed countries.Professional courses are similar to those of medical schools in developed countries.However,it is still necessary to strengthen the cultivation of innovative ability and medical humanities education.

ABSTRACT

Targeting the common fact that colleges and universities of traditional Chinese medicine neglect management post practice,are lack of cutting-edge,cross-disciplinary and methodological courses,fail to reflect the traditional Chinese medicine's singularity and update courses slowly during the process of cultivating their graduate students,Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine innovates its culture system of graduate student in related major.It is also devoted to developing problem-based learning,introducing bitutor system,reforming course system,which may hopefully improve their graduate students' innovative thoughts and abilities,strengthen their innovative knowledge theory system to finally discover an appropriate reform model for the culture system which can be perfectly replicable.

Aimed at training innovative talent, human anatomy department of Mudanjiang Medical University took mea-sures to reform practical contents of human anatomy such as introduction of animal organs, development of scientific research, and by setting the abundant practical teaching content and appraisal method, constructed the anatomy practice teaching system based on cultivating the innovation ability of medical students, which stimulated the enthusiasm of students for anatomy and improved quality of human anatomy teaching.

ABSTRACT

Teaching level and quality of experimental curriculum were promoted markedly by deepening the reform of experimental teaching, constructing qualified experimental curriculum, opti-mizing and standardizing experimental teaching process. Medical students' innovative ability was in-tensified by constructing open innovative platform and evolving vigorous extracurricular innovative activities. Meanwhile, students' innovative consciousness, scientific research ability, ability of compre-hensive analysis and problem-solving were promoted.
