RESUMO

In a survey of 20 soft white cheese samples representing Damietta and Karish cheese for determination of biogenic amines, it was found that tyramine was the most prevalent with highest maximum concentration in both types of cheese examined. It represented 8.69, 6.16 mg/100g of total amines of Damietta and Karish cheese respectively. Putrescine represented maximum concentration up to 13 mg/100g in Damietta cheese, while failed to be detected in Karish cheese. Histamine values were less than 1 mg/100g and 3 mg/100g Damietta and Karish cheese, respectively. Cadaverine, alpha-phenylethylamine, beta- phenylethylamine, spermidine, agmatine were detected in an average value ranged from 0.02-0.35 in Damietta cheese and 0.04-066 in Karish cheese. Beta phenylethylamine could not be detected in Karish cheese. The obtained results were discussed and the quality control measures for cheese should be adopted

RESUMO

Experiments were performed to show the effect of long-term administration of fresh and boiled onion extract in dose of 4 ml/day, for one and two months, on some serum constituents. These constituents were insulin, glucose, total lipids, total cholesterol and some enzyme activities. Results indicated that insulin concentration was significantly [P <0.01] increased in rats given fresh onion extract for one and two months and boiled for two months only. Glucose level was significantly [P <0.05] decreased after the 1st month and highly decreased [P <0.01] after the 2nd month in rats administrated both onion extract. AS-T activity was significantly [P <0.01] increased in serum of rats intubated fresh and boiled onion extract whereas, the AL-T activity was significantly [P <0.01] reduced in rats given boiled onion extract. The lactic dehydrogenase activity showed nonsignificant changes during all the experiment. Both onion extract [fresh and boiled] caused significant [P <0.05] decrement in the total lipids and cholesterol values after the first month and highly decreased [P <0.01] after the second month

RESUMO

Trace elements, hormones, enzymes and protein fraction were determined in the blood serum of 36 copper deficient as well as 25 control ewes, and were assessed in their relation to copper metabolism. The copper and iron levels were significantly decreased in copper-deficient animals, while zinc and phosphorus content remained more or less constant. The cortisol and progesterone levels showed higher values in hypocuprosis, while estradiol hormone was significantly decreased. Highly significant inhibition of ceruloplasmin and cholinesterase activities in copper-deficient animals was recorded. The other assay of alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase and 5-nucleotidase revealed a nonsignificant changes. Drastic reduction in the serum total protein, albumin concentration and A/G ratio was observed in copper-deficient ewes while globulin lever remained unchanged

RESUMO

Out of 30 rams, 12-20 months of age, 14 rams were treated with L- tyrosine, in a single dose of 100 mg/kg body weight and 16 rams were left as control. Three semen and blood samples were collected from each ram once weekly and the seminal plasma and serum were taken for estimating the copper, zinc and manganese content. The present results revealed higher values for these elements in the seminal plasma and serum of the treated group when compared with those in the control. With the exception of manganese, copper and zinc appeared significantly higher in the seminal plasma than those in the serum. The ejaculate volume showed significant correlation which was positive with copper [0.601] and zinc [0.544] and negative with manganese [-0.495]. There was a highly significant positive correlation between the sperm motility and zinc [0.668]

RESUMO

The present work was planned to study the effect of vaccination with different strains of Newcastle disease virus vaccine [NDVV] as well as vaccination with Gumboro vaccine on the electrophoretic pattern of serum proteins in our local breed [Baladi]. One hundred and fifty three one day old chicks were used. Our results revealed that there was a significant increase in the levels of total serum proteins, albumin, total globulins and gamma-globulin in the sera of chickens vaccinated with NDVV whereas there was no significant difference between Gumboro vaccinated chickens and control group in the total serum proteins and its fractions. The chickens vaccinated with komarov strain of NDVV showed the highest mean values of total serum proteins, albumin, total globulins and gamma-globulin whereas the lowest values were observed in the chickens vaccinated with Gumboro and Lasota strain of NDVV. Concerning the type of vaccine and weeks post-vaccination. The mean values of total serum proteins, albumin, total globulins and beta-globulins were significantly increased in chickens vaccinated with NDVV either with komarov or Lasota strains at the 1st week post-vaccination. In the 2nd week post-vaccination, the mean values of beta-globulin fraction in group vaccinated with NDVV and chickens vaccinated with NDVV [without last dose] and Gumboro vaccine was significantly decreased. Furthermore, the total serum proteins were significantly decreased in chickens vaccinated with Gumboro and NDVV [K]. In the 3rd week post-vaccinated with Gumboro [L]. It was concluded that the vaccination of chicks with Gumboro vaccine at 14 day of age delay the response of immune system for vaccination with Newcastle disease virus vaccine [NDVV]

RESUMO

Mineral concentrations [iron, cadmium, cobalt and nickel] in the hair of buffalo calves at different ages were quantitatively determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. It was found that the levels of the studied minerals were not greatly influenced by the nature of food and age of the animal. The data obtained for the mineral contents in this work, were tabulated, statistically analyzed and discussed

RESUMO

The normal ranges for some organic components were estimated from 600 clinical tests on 100 blood samples of carp fish [Cyprinus carpio]. Estimated normal ranges were glucose, 77.90 +/- 4.10 mg/dl in males and 72.10 +/- 3.70 mg/dl in females. Total serum protein was 3.36 +/- 0.07 g/dl in males and 3.11 +/- 0.07 g/dl in females. The total serum lipids were 521.30 +/- 22.69 mg/dl in males and 534.72 +/- 21.45 mg/dl in females. Serum cholesterol value was 261.58 +/- 7.52 mg/dl in males and 275.56 +/- 8.31 mg/dl in females. Serum bilirubin values was 1.42 +/- 0.05 mg/dl in males and 1.32 +/- 0.05 mg/dl in females. Serum creatinine level was 0.62 +/- 0.04 mg/dl in males and 0.57 +/- 0.03 mg/dl in females. There is no sex difference in all estimated samples except for total serum proteins

RESUMO

Lactic dehydrogenase [LDH], aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, acid and alkaline phosphatase] and some organic constituents [fructose, total proteins, total lipids and ascorbic acid] were assessed in 200 seminal plasma samples [100 from native breed bulls and 100 from buffalo bulls]. The results showed that there are insignificant differences in the enzymatic activities of lactic dehydrogenase [LDH], aspartate-aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in the seminal plasma of the two species. However, the acid and alkaline phosphatase activities of buffalo bulls seminal plasma were significantly higher [P <0.05] compared to that of the native bulls. A significant increase [P <0.05] in the total proteins and fructose content of the native bulls seminal plasma than of the buffalo bulls. However, no significant differences was traced in total lipids or ascorbic acid content in the seminal plasma of the two species
