Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) is a rare cause of dementia and comprises varied combinations of subcortical signs (akinetic-rigid parkinsonism, dystonia, or myoclonus) with cortical signs (apraxia, alien hand or cortical sensory deficit), usually asymmetric. We aimed to report and compare the clinical and neuroimaging presentation of two patients diagnosed with CBS. While case 1 had severe non-fluent aphasia associated with mild apraxia and limb rigidity, case 2 had a more posterior cognitive impairment, with a different language pattern associated with marked visuospatial errors and hemineglect. FDG PET played a significant role in diagnosis, suggesting, in the first case, corticobasal degeneration and, in the second, Alzheimer's disease pattern. CBS has been widely studied with the advent of new in vivo methods such as brain FDG PET. Studies that deepen the phenotypic and biomarker heterogeneity of CBS will be of great importance for better classification, prognosis, and treatment of the condition.

RESUMO
Atypical parkinsonism (AP) is a group of complex neurodegenerative disorders with marked clinical and pathophysiological heterogeneity. The use of systems biology tools may contribute to the characterization of hub-bottleneck genes, and the identification of its biological pathways to broaden the understanding of the bases of these disorders. A systematic search was performed on the DisGeNET database, which integrates data from expert curated repositories, GWAS catalogues, animal models and the scientific literature. The tools STRING 11.0 and Cytoscape 3.8.2 were used for analysis of protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. The PPI network topography analyses were performed using the CytoHubba 0.1 plugin for Cytoscape. The hub and bottleneck genes were inserted into 4 different sets on the InteractiveVenn. Additional functional enrichment analyses were performed to identify Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways and gene ontology for a described set of genes. The systematic search in the DisGeNET database identified 485 genes involved with Atypical Parkinsonism. Superimposing these genes, we detected a total of 31 hub-bottleneck genes. Moreover, our functional enrichment analyses demonstrated the involvement of these hub-bottleneck genes in 3 major KEGG pathways. We identified 31 highly interconnected hub-bottleneck genes through a systems biology approach, which may play a key role in the pathogenesis of atypical parkinsonism. The functional enrichment analyses showed that these genes are involved in several biological processes and pathways, such as the glial cell development, glial cell activation and cognition, pathways were related to Alzheimer disease and Parkinson disease. As a hypothesis, we highlight as possible key genes for AP the MAPT (microtubule associated protein tau), APOE (apolipoprotein E), SNCA (synuclein alpha) and APP (amyloid beta precursor protein) genes.

Corticobasal degeneration is an atypical Parkinson's syndrome characterized by cerebral cortical findings such as apraxia or loss of cortical sensation. The aim of this study is to show the effect of occupational therapy interventions in a patient followed up with a diagnosis of corticobasal degeneration and posterior cortical atrophy. The study included by a 59 year old female patient. After the initial evaluation, she received an Occupational Therapy intervention for one hour, once a week, for eight weeks in our department. A final assessment was made at the end of eight weeks. As a result of the evaluations, significant improvements were observed in the functional independence scale, mini mental state test, and tinetti test. There is a decrease in the geriatric depression scale, but it is still at the border of depression. Progress in sensory evaluations is not significant despite the intervention, but it should be noted that the person has a progressive chronic disease. In conclusion, although corticobasal degeneration and posterior cortical atrophy are progressive neurodegenerative disorders, slowdowns in the course of the disease can be observed with planned person-centered rehabilitation interventions. The importance of early rehabilitation in such degenerative disorders can be emphasized and it is recommended to add occupational therapy interventions to these treatment programs. (AU)
A degeneração corticobasal é uma síndrome de Parkinson atípica caracterizada por achados corticais cerebrais, como apraxia ou perda de sensibilidade cortical. O objetivo deste estudo é mostrar o efeito de intervenções de terapia ocupacional em um paciente acompanhado com diagnóstico de degeneração corticobasal e atrofia cortical posterior. O estudo incluído por uma paciente do sexo feminino de 59 anos. Após avaliação inicial, recebeu intervenção de Terapia Ocupacional por uma hora, uma vez por semana, durante oito semanas em nosso serviço. Uma avaliação final foi feita ao final de oito semanas. Como resultado das avaliações, foram observadas melhorias significativas na escala de independência funcional, mini teste do estado mental e teste de tinetti. Há uma diminuição na escala de depressão geriátrica, mas ainda está na fronteira da depressão. O progresso nas avaliações sensoriais não é significativo apesar da intervenção, mas deve-se notar que a pessoa tem uma doença crônica progressiva. Em conclusão, embora a degeneração corticobasal e a atrofia cortical posterior sejam distúrbios neurodegenerativos progressivos, abrandamentos no curso da doença podem ser observados com intervenções planejadas de reabilitação centradas na pessoa. A importância da reabilitação precoce em tais distúrbios degenerativos pode ser enfatizada e recomenda-se adicionar intervenções de terapia ocupacional a esses programas de tratamento. (AU)

The aim of this study was to characterize the oral discourse of CBS patients and to verify whether measures obtained during a semi-spontaneous speech production could differentiate CBS patients from controls. A second goal was to compare the performance of patients with CBS probably due to Alzheimer's disease (CBS-AD) pathology and CBS not related to AD (CBS-non-AD) in the same measures, based on the brain metabolic status (FDG-PET) and in the presence of amyloid deposition (amyloid-PET). Results showed that CBS patients were significantly different from controls in speech rate, lexical level, informativeness, and syntactic complexity. Discursive measures did not differentiate CBS-AD from CBS-non-AD. However, CBS-AD displayed more lexical-semantic impairments than controls, a profile that is frequently reported in patients with clinical AD and the logopenic variant of primary progressive aphasia (lvPPA). CBS-non-AD presented mainly with impairments related to motor speech disorders and syntactic complexity, as seen in the non-fluent variant of PPA.

Background/Objective: Neurosyphilis can be associated with a variety of clinical manifestations. There are only a few cases of neurosyphilis associated with parkinsonism-plus syndromes (PPSs) that have been reported in the literature. We describe a case of an elderly woman who presented with abnormal gait and progressive visual disturbance, probably secondary to neurosyphilis. Methods: Literature search was performed in Embase, Google Scholar, Medline, Scielo, and ScienceDirect using a set of terms that included parkinsonism, tremor, and syphilis. Case Report: A 64-year-old female was admitted because of vision problems, gait disturbances, and cognitive impairment. The neurological examination revealed bradykinesia, rigidity, and rest tremor. The pupils were bilaterally small and reacted in size to a near object but did not constrict when exposed to bright light. The conjugate eye movements showed a defective downward gaze. On neuropsychological examination, the mini-mental state exam showed a moderate cognitive impairment. Reduced phonemic fluency was observed. A positive serum venereal disease research laboratory (VDRL) test was noted. A cerebrospinal fluid analysis showed positive VDRL. Brain and cervical spine magnetic resonance imaging was normal. An electro-encephalogram showed diffused slow waves. Penicillin G was started. Six months after, the patient had a full recovery of her conjugate eye movements and cognitive functions. Upon further questioning, the patient reported no response with a levodopa attempt. Conclusions: To the authors' knowledge, two individuals developed progressive supra-nuclear palsy (PSP), and one presented corticobasal degeneration (CBD), probably associated with neurosyphilis. This is the second case to document the occurrence of a progressive supra-nuclear palsy because of syphilis.

Introduction: Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) is a progressive neurological disorder related to multiple underlying pathologies, including four-repeat tauopathies, such as corticobasal degeneration and progressive supranuclear palsy, and Alzheimer's disease (AD). Speech and language are commonly impaired, encompassing a broad spectrum of deficits. We aimed to investigate CBS speech and language impairment patterns in light of a multimodal imaging approach. Materials and Methods: Thirty-one patients with probable CBS were prospectively evaluated concerning their speech-language, cognitive, and motor profiles. They underwent positron emission tomography with [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG-PET) and [11C]Pittsburgh Compound-B (PIB-PET) on a hybrid PET-MRI machine to assess their amyloid status. PIB-PET images were classified based on visual and semi-quantitative analyses. Quantitative group analyses were performed on FDG-PET data, and atrophy patterns on MRI were investigated using voxel-based morphometry (VBM). Thirty healthy participants were recruited as imaging controls. Results: Aphasia was the second most prominent cognitive impairment, presented in 67.7% of the cases, following apraxia (96.8%). We identified a wide linguistic profile, ranging from nonfluent variant-primary progressive aphasia to lexical-semantic deficits, mostly with impaired verbal fluency. PIB-PET was classified as negative (CBS-A- group) in 18/31 (58%) and positive (CBS-A+ group) in 13/31 (42%) patients. The frequency of dysarthria was significantly higher in the CBS-A- group than in the CBS-A+ group (55.6 vs. 7.7%, p = 0.008). CBS patients with dysarthria had a left-sided hypometabolism at frontal regions, with a major cluster at the left inferior frontal gyrus and premotor cortex. They showed brain atrophy mainly at the opercular frontal gyrus and putamen. There was a positive correlation between [18F]FDG uptake and semantic verbal fluency at the left inferior (p = 0.006, R 2 = 0.2326), middle (0.0054, R 2 = 0.2376), and superior temporal gyri (p = 0.0066, R 2 = 0.2276). Relative to the phonemic verbal fluency, we found a positive correlation at the left frontal opercular gyrus (p = 0.0003, R 2 = 0.3685), the inferior (p = 0.0004, R 2 = 0.3537), and the middle temporal gyri (p = 0.0001, R 2 = 0.3993). Discussion: In the spectrum of language impairment profile, dysarthria might be helpful to distinguish CBS patients not related to AD. Metabolic and structural signatures depicted from this feature provide further insights into the motor speech production network and are also helpful to differentiate CBS variants.

BACKGROUND: Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) is an atypical parkinsonian syndrome related to multiple underlying pathologies. OBJECTIVE: To investigate if individual brain [18 F]fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) patterns could distinguish CBS due to Alzheimer's disease (AD) from other pathologies based on [11 C]Pittsburgh Compound-B (PIB)-PET. METHODS: Forty-five patients with probable CBS were prospectively evaluated regarding cognitive and movement disorders profile. They underwent FDG-PET and were distributed into groups: likely related to AD (CBS FDG-AD) or likely non-AD (CBS FDG-nonAD) pathology. Thirty patients underwent PIB-PET on a hybrid PET-magnetic resonance imaging equipment to assess their amyloid status. FDG and PIB-PET images were classified individually based on visual and semi-quantitative analysis, blinded to each other. Quantitative group analyses were also performed. RESULTS: CBS FDG-AD group demonstrated worse cognitive performances, mostly concerning attention, memory, visuospatial domains, and displayed more myoclonus and hallucinations. The non-AD metabolic group presented more often limb dystonia, ocular motor dysfunction, motor perseveration, and dysarthria. All patients classified as CBS FDG-AD tested positive at PIB-PET compared to 3 of 20 in the non-AD group. The individual FDG-PET classification demonstrated 76.92% of sensitivity, 100% of specificity and positive predictive value and 88.5% of balanced accuracy to detect positive PIB-PET scans. Individuals with positive and negative PIB-PET showed hypometabolism in posterior temporoparietal areas and in thalamus and brainstem, respectively, mainly contralateral to most affected side, disclosing possible metabolic signatures of CBS variants. CONCLUSION: FDG-PET was useful to predict AD and non-AD CBS variants depicting their specific degeneration patterns, different clinical features, and brain amyloid deposition. © 2020 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

Corticobasal degeneration (CBD) is a pathology of low incidence and prevalence worldwide; it is accompanied by symptoms such as dystonia, rigid akinetic syndrome (bradykinesia), gait disturbances, neurological deterioration associated with severe cortical subcortical atrophy, and progressive to moderate to severe neurocognitive deficits, especially in immediate verbal memory and dorsolateral or dysexecutive syndrome. We identified neurocognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric symptoms in a patient diagnosed with CBD. Participant was a 70-year-old female patient, single; she presented progressive memory loss of an immediate verbal nature. Initially, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia, finding that she had no characteristic signs and symptoms of these pathologies. The patient presented conciliation insomnia, gait disturbances, and severe neurocognitive deficit, especially in executive functions, immediate verbal memory, and visuospatial functioning. It was found that the patient presented neurocognitive alterations of the executive type (frontal lobe) such as decision making, planning, inhibition and operative memory, correlated with a severe alteration in her basic, instrumental and advanced activities of daily life, with a high risk factor for developing dementia. It is necessary to diagnose in an assertive and timely manner in order to generate functional neurorehabilitation plans in people diagnosed with CBD, with the main objective of positively impacting quality of life, at the individual, family, and social level.

We searched the PubMed/MEDLINE database for articles published from 1990 to 2019, using the keywords "corticobasal degeneration" AND "treatment." The PRISMA method was adopted. Retrieved articles were characterized as having one of two methodological approaches: (1) studies aimed at primary tauopathy treatment and (2) symptomatic management. Review articles (based on CBD expert groups), case reports, case series, and pilot clinical trials were selected. Few attempts have been made to study drug options and drug efficacy in CBD systematically, and an effective treatment is not yet available. Treatment is symptomatic and based on similarity with other diseases due to the scarcity of studies specifically addressing CBD. CBD seems not to spark interest in more clinical trials for its low prevalence and reliability in clinical diagnosis.

ABSTRACT Corticobasal degeneration (CBD) was originally described as a distinct clinicopathological entity in 1967. Since then, different phenotypic presentations have emerged as possible manifestations of CBD histopathological findings. In addition, pathophysiological findings and the molecular basis have been delineated and several aspects of its cognitive manifestations have been clarified. Thus, not only the spectrum of what is currently designated as CBD has expanded, but overlap with other degenerative and even secondary disorders has made clinical diagnostic certainty even more challenging in the absence of specific and readily-available markers. Cognitive deficits in CBD are now recognized as a frequent initial presentation and may appear up to eight years before the motor symptoms, depending on the phenotypic variant. Characteristic cognitive features of CBD involve language deficits, visuospatial and executive dysfunctions, apraxia, and behavioral disorders. Semantic and episodic memories are usually preserved, while language is often impaired in the early stages.
RESUMO A degeneração corticobasal (DCB) foi originalmente descrita como uma entidade clínico-patológica distinta em 1967. Desde então, nossa compreensão sobre DCB evoluiu substancialmente. Diferentes apresentações fenotípicas emergiram refletindo possíveis manifestações das anormalidades histopatológicos da DCB. Adicionalmente, dados fisiopatológicos e moleculares foram delineados e aspectos das manifestações cognitivas foram explorados. Assim, não só o espectro do que é atualmente designado DCB foi expandido, mas a sobreposição com outras doenças degenerativas e até mesmo secundárias tornaram o diagnóstico clínico ainda mais desafiador na ausência de marcadores específicos e prontamente disponíveis. Déficits cognitivos na DCB são agora reconhecidos frequentemente como apresentações iniciais e podem surgir até 8 anos antes dos sintomas motores, dependendo da variante fenotípica. O quadro cognitivo envolve característicamente déficits de linguagem, disfunção visuoespacial e executiva, apraxia, e distúrbios comportamentais. Anormalidades da linguagem são frequentemente descritas nos estágios iniciais da DCB.

ABSTRACT Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) is an atypical parkinsonian syndrome of great interest to movement disorder specialists and behavioral neurologists. Although originally considered a primary motor disorder, it is now also recognized as a cognitive disorder, usually presenting cognitive deficits before the onset of motor symptoms. The term CBS denotes the clinical phenotype and is associated with a heterogeneous spectrum of pathologies. Given that disease-modifying agents are targeting the pathologic process, new diagnostic methods and biomarkers are being developed to predict the underlying pathology. The heterogeneity of this syndrome in terms of clinical, radiological, neuropsychological and pathological aspects poses the main challenge for evaluation.
RESUMO A síndrome corticobasal é classificada dentro do grupo das síndromes parkinsonianas atípicas, e atualmente desperta interesse em neurologistas especialistas em distúrbios do movimento e neurologia cognitiva e comportamental. Inicialmente considerada como uma síndrome tipicamente motora, hoje se reconhece a importância dos achados cognitivos na apresentação, podendo ocorrer mesmo na ausência de alterações motoras. Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) is an atypical parkinsonian syndrome of great interest to movement disorder specialists and behavioral neurologists. Although originally considered a primary motor disorder, it is now also recognized as a cognitive disorder, usually presenting cognitive deficits before the onset of motor symptoms. The term CBS denotes the clinical phenotype and is associated with a heterogeneous spectrum of pathologies. Given that disease-modifying agents are targeting the pathologic process, new diagnostic methods and biomarkers are being developed to predict the underlying pathology. The heterogeneity of this syndrome in terms of clinical, radiological, neuropsychological and pathological aspects poses the main challenge for evaluation.
A síndrome corticobasal é classificada dentro do grupo das síndromes parkinsonianas atípicas, e atualmente desperta interesse em neurologistas especialistas em distúrbios do movimento e neurologia cognitiva e comportamental. Inicialmente considerada como uma síndrome tipicamente motora, hoje se reconhece a importância dos achados cognitivos na apresentação, podendo ocorrer mesmo na ausência de alterações motoras. RESUMO
Se presenta un caso de Degeneración Corticobasal en una paciente chilena de 48 años de edad. La evolución clínica fue progresiva, con parkinsonismo (rigidez, acinesia, alteraciones posturales, disartria), deterioro cognitivo, apraxia del vestir, apraxia constructiva e hipomimia. Además, la paciente presentaba afasia no fluente. Adicionalmente, fue diagnosticada con Síndrome Depresivo Crónico (SDC) y Trombosis Venosa Profunda (TVP) de la extremidad inferior izquierda. Se han descrito varios tipos de enfermedades neurodegenerativas en las últimas décadas, las cuales cumplen con distintas características patológicas y clínicas. Sin embargo, la diferenciación de estas, en la práctica, es compleja y se necesita de una apreciación clínica entrenada, evaluaciones clínicas detalladas, neuroimágenes y estudios de laboratorio para lograr llegar a un diagnóstico adecuado. A case study of corticobasal degeneration in a Chilean 48 year old female patient is reported. The clinical course was progressive and included Parkinsonism (rigidity, akinesia, postural abnormalities, dysarthria), cognitive impairment, dressing apraxia, constructive apraxia and hypomimia. In addition, the patienth ad non Mfluent aphasia. Also, the patient was diagnosed with Chronic Depressive Syndrome and Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) of the left lower extremity. In recent decades, several types of neurodegenerative diseases* have been described. These diseases have different clinical and pathologic features. However, in practice, it is difficult to differentiate them from one another and, to reach an accurate diagnosis, advanced medical skills, detailed clinical evaluations of neuroimaging and laboratory studies are needed. Corticobasal degeneration is a rare neurodegenerative disorder that often eludes clinical diagnosis. The present case shows the F-18 fluoro-d-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) of a 62-year-old man with a progressive movement disorder with asymmetric features. PET/CT examination showed a markedly right-brain hemispheric hypometabolism also involving basal ganglia.

Objective: To investigate progressive non-fluent aphasia and histopathologically-proven corticobasal degeneration. Methods: We evaluated symptoms, signs, neuropsychological deficits, and radiology data longitudinally, in a patient with autopsy-proven corticobasal degeneration and correlated these observations directly to the neuroanatomic distribution of the disease. Results: At presentation, a specific pattern of cognitive impairment was evident with an extreme extrapyramidal motor abnormality. Follow-up examination revealed persistent impairment of praxis and executive functioning, progressive worsening of language performance, and moderately preserved memory. The motor disorder manifested and worsened as the condition progressed. Many of the residual nerve cells were ballooned and achromatic with eccentric nuclei. Tau-immunoreactive pathology was significantly more prominent in neurons in the frontal and parietal cortices and dentate nuclei than in temporal neocortex, hippocampi and brainstem. Conclusion: The clinical diagnosis of progressive non-fluent aphasia secondary to corticobasal degeneration hinged on a specific pattern of impaired cognition as well as an extrapyramidal motor disorder, reflecting the neuroanatomic distribution of the disease in frontal and anterior temporal cortices and the dentate nuclei.
Objetivo: Investigar o quadro clínico de afasia progressiva não-fluente e confirmação histopatológica de degeneração córtico-basal. Métodos: Foram avaliadas as alterações clínicas, neuropsicológicas e de neuroimagem, durante todo o curso clínico da doença. O diagnóstico de degeneração córtico-basal foi confirmado por estudo histopatológico. Essas observações foram diretamente relacionadas com a distribuição anatômica da doença. Resultados: Foi observada uma forma específica de prejuízo cognitivo associada com importante alteração extrapiramidal. Durante o curso clínico, surgiram apraxia e disfunção executiva, piora progressiva da linguagem e memória moderadamente preservada. As alterações extrapiramidais pioraram progressivamente à rigidez universal e postura distônica. As reações de imunohistoquímica para a proteína tau foram significativamente mais proeminentes nos neurônios residuais de aspecto baloniformes e acromáticos do córtex frontal e parietal e núcleo denteado do cerebelo do que nos do neocórtex temporal, hipocampo e tronco cerebral. Conclusão: O diagnóstico clínico de afasia progressiva não-fluente quando evolui para degeneração córtico-basal deve apresentar uma forma específica de prejuízo cognitivo, incluindo as alterações motoras, refletindo uma distribuição neuroanatômica da doença no córtex frontal e temporal anterior e no núcleo denteado do cerebelo.

RESUMO
BACKGROUND: The association between Dystonia and Parkinson's disease (PD) has been well described especially for foot and hand dystonia. There is however few data on dystonic postures in patients with atypical parkinsonism. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the frequency and pattern of dystonia in a group of patients with atypical parkinsonism (multiple system atrophy - MSA, progressive supranuclear palsy - PSP, and corticobasal degeneration - CBD) and to investigate whether dystonia could be the first presenting symptom at disease onset in those patients. METHOD: A total of 38 medical charts were reviewed (n=23/MSA group; n=7/CBD group; n=8/PSP group) and data values were described as means/standard deviations. The variables evaluated were sex, age at onset, disease duration, first symptom, clinical features of dystonia and other neurological signs, response to levodopatherapy, Hoehn&Yahr scale >3 after three years of disease, and magnetic resonance imaging findings. RESULTS: The overall frequency of dystonia in our sample was 50 percent with 30.4 percent (n=7) in the MSA group, 62.5 percent (n=5) in the PSP group, and 100 percent (n=8) in the CBD group. In none of these patients, dystonia was the first complaint. Several types of dystonia were found: camptocormia, retrocollis, anterocollis, blepharoespasm, oromandibular, and foot/hand dystonia. CONCLUSION: In our series, dystonia was a common feature in atypical parkinsonism (overall frequency of 50 percent) and it was part of the natural history although not the first symptom at disease onset. Neuroimaging abnormalities are not necessarily related to focal dystonia, and levodopa therapy did not influence the pattern of dystonia in our group of patients.
INTRODUÇÃO: A associação de distonia e doença de Parkinson (DP) já foi bem estabelecida, principalmente para distonia focal em pé ou mão. Entretanto, há poucos dados quanto a distonia em pacientes com parkinsonismo atípico. OBJETIVO: Avaliar a freqüência e o padrão da distonia em um grupo de pacientes com parkisnonismo atípico (atrofia de múltiplos sistemas - AMS; paralisia supranuclear progressiva - PSP; degeneração corticobasal - DCB) e investigar se a distonia pode ser a manifestação inicial neste grupo. MÉTODO: Um total de 38 prontuários médicos foi revisado (n=23/grupo AMS; n=8/grupo PSP; n=7/grupo PSP) e os dados foram apresentados em médias/desvios padrões. As variaveis avaliadas foram: sexo, idade de início, duração da doença, primeiro sintoma, características clínicas da distonia e outros sinais neurológicos, resposta ao tratamento com levodopa, escala de Hoehn & Yahr >3 em 3 anos de doença, e achados de ressonância magnética. RESULTADOS: A frequência total de distonia em nosso grupo foi 50 por cento, sendo 30,4 por cento (n=7) no grupo AMS, 62.5 por cento (n=5) no grupo PSP e 100 por cento (n=8) no grupo DCB. Em nenhum dos pacientes, distonia foi o primeiro sintoma. Várias apresentações de distonia foram observadas: camptocormia, anterocólis, retrocólis, distonia oromandibular, em pé e mão. CONCLUSÃO: Em nossa série, distonia foi uma característica comum em pacientes com parkinsonismo atípico (freqüência de 50 por cento) e fez parte da história natural em todos os grupos, embora não tenha sido o sintoma inicial em nenhum deles. Anormalidades no exame de neuroimagem não necessariamente estão relacionadas a distonia focal, e o tratamento com levodopa não influenciou o padrão da distonia em nosso grupo de pacientes.
