RESUMEN

The clinical and statistical data obtained from the applied study appeared to show that, the administration of "clinitol" mouth wash combined with prophylaxis and proper oral hygiene, enhanced the resolution of gingival inflammation. The local therapeutic measures alone, was also, effective in reducing gingival inflammation

RESUMEN

Gingivae of twenty male leukemic patients varying in age form 20-30 years' 4 non-treated patients as controls and 16 patients treated with cyclophoshamid were subjected to histological and histochemical studies, employing H and E., P.A.S. and Bromphenol Blue stains. It could be concluded that, cyclophosphamid almost lead to destruction of the leukemic cells and promote the healing process by fibrosis. Hence, minor oral and/or periodontal surgical procedures could safely be applied in leukemic patients under cyclophosphamid therapy

RESUMEN

The purpose of this article is bring to attention the diagnostic difficulties in some patients with connective tissue syndromes in who the monument my be problematic. A case of undifferentiated connective tissue disease in a patient with oral mucosal disorder is described, the case reported in this paper represent the 27 case of MCTD which to our knowledge constitute the second case of this syndrome associated with oral lesion. Thus deserving the name undifferentiated connective disease previously coined by Rich and Read, 1984

RESUMEN

The present study entails an assessment of T-lymphocyte function in 30 contraceptive pills users, divided into 3 groups according to the administration periods. T-lymphocyte function in the tested groups was found to be suppressed as compared to the control groups. The long term administration of oral contraceptives -might suppress the cell-mediated immunity which could alter gingival tissue response towards bacterial antigens

RESUMEN

Forty four gingival biopsies were obtained from 44 women patients of whom 36 were pregnant and divided into 3 equal groups according to the trimester of pregnancy, while the other 8 non-pregnant women served as controls. Biopsies were studied by the histochemical Gomori's technique to detect acid phosphatase enzyme as a marker of lysosomal reactivity. Lysosomal activity is decreased during pregnancy beginning from the first up to the second trimester. These alterations may impair the - host defense mechanisms against local irritating factors. Hence, neglectance of oral hygiene during pregnancy is considered a warning signal towards the accentuated and/or exaggerated gingival response to local irritants

RESUMEN

Lymphocytes were cultured from patients with chronic gingivitis, marginal periodontitis and from matched healthy subjects. Lymphocyte transformation was significantly suppressed by all the examined As Strains [9710, 109, in a dose dependent fashion. Aa-immunosuppression was due to direct toxic effects on lymphocytes. The suppressive factor is heatstable, endotoxic and non-specific [due to effect on PPD]. The data presented in this paper support the claim that, the increase in severity of periodontal disease corresponded to a marked decrease in cell-mediated immune responses to bacterial antigens. Subsequently, the suppression of cellular immunity in subjects with starting periodontal trouble could be considered as a warning signal of the progression of the disease to its severe form
